Phantasy star went on to receive 3 sequels, the last released in 1993 on the SEGA Mega Drive which concluded four-part series encompassing the star system known as Algol. Phantasy Star is rooted strongly in the JRPG realm being a single-player adventure game, it was received well and launched to western audiences before titles like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. It was one of the earliest Japanese RPGs (JRPG) released on consoles and told the story of Alis and her journey to tack on the evil ruler of her star system. Phantasy Star, a series that dates back as far as 1987, is an RPG developed by SEGA for the Master System.
